Shawna Martin

Shawna has her master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a love for leading a team of grant developers to great success for OVID’s clients. As the lead strategic and urban planner, she develops competitive grant applications to connect communities to funding opportunities for implementing public infrastructure and advises local governments and non-profits on land use, site planning, stakeholder engagement, and other development policies. Shawna has acted as the GIS lead liaison for the County’s Development Services Division to coordinate planning and environmental analysis into the development process and prepare real-time FEMA damage assessments during post-disaster recovery efforts. She also led a team that collaborated to bring the largest single building in Tallahassee, the Amazon Fulfillment Center, through the permitting and public engagement process in a record time of 3 months. She has also served as the expert witness in three legal cases involving Leon County development projects which required extensive analysis and testimony in the field of urban planning. Shawna lives in Tallahassee with her young daughter, her Great Dane, and two kitties.
