Grant Development

We are looking for individuals who have experience writing federal grants and understand the technology and business model of the energy industry and electric cooperatives. Members of this team must be good at telling the story of our clients with experienced writing skills. They must also be good at working with our clients asking questions to create strong narratives that are both technical and easy to understand. Members of our grant development team must be skilled project managers who are deadline-driven and able to plan and manage proposal/application development from start to finish.

Grant Management

We are looking for individuals who have experience managing federal grants and understand the business model of electric cooperatives and other energy partners. Members of this team must have strong organizational skills and be able to comprehend federal programs and guide our clients through contracting, reporting, requests for reimbursement, federal monitoring, and other compliance-related tasks. They must be proactive in working with our clients to help them understand federal requirements and complete tasks on time.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATES

  • We are often the translators of “government-ese” for clients. This means you’ll need to be familiar with comprehending and interpreting federal and state grant program policies and be able to roll up your sleeves to write required policies that help clients comply with sometimes complex regulations. Weogram experience with complex programs like those associated with the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and others are a good example of what we are looking for in a candidate as well as the willingness to learn new complex programs.
  • We are a team that works remotely, meaning you have flexibility and a super short commute! This requires effective time management and the ability to stay on task, amidst the distractions of a home office.
  • Clients enjoy working with our team because we are a positive force to be around. Candidates must enjoy building professional relationships with clients and cheer them along to the finish line on important projects.
  • Part of the job is number crunching, helping to build detailed cost estimates, and tracking the spending of our clients. You’ll need to be able to effectively use Excel and be detail-oriented in tracking budgets, timelines, etc. We’ll have accounting support to help with this end of it, but you’ll work with our team on the frontline with clients.
  • Ability to travel. Our business is largely remote but will require travel from time to time to the State of Florida and other states across the nation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Comfort with new technology and working in various products. We expect that a candidate will be able to function well in Microsoft Products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams but also easily learn and adapt to other platforms like Google Workspace, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Canva as well as project management and timekeeping software.
  • Understanding of government practices at the state, local and federal level focused on how funding flows from the federal or state governments and how local governments and non-profit organizations can access these funds. This may mean diving into detailed bills, policies and procedures, legislation, budgets, etc. to extract important information that helps our clients.
  • The ability to manage a project and drive it to the finish line on time and within budget.
  • The ability to think critically about challenges faced by our clients and identify solutions to help them overcome obstacles and barriers through research.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to a client about a project, recommend options at decision-making points and execute based on the decision that is made by the client.
  • The ability to creatively facilitate an effective and engaging meeting that achieves the goals outlined in an agenda within the timeframe established.
